What style are you planning on using?
I am planning to use impressionism in my play design.
Why have chosen this style for this play?
I have chosen this style because this style includes primary colors and small strokes to stimulate light. Due to this, I believe that it will give off a warm feeling to the set. Since the main characters are on a honeymoon and are in a hotel, I think that this is essential.
How will this style assist you in bringing this scene to life?
As I said before, I believe that it will give off a warm feeling to the set. Since the main characters are on a honeymoon and are in a hotel, I think that this is essential.
Consider what Principles of Design you are using? How are you using them?
I am using the principle Mass because I need to calculate where I put objects with space and how this will effect where and how the actors move. I am also using lines to direct the audience's line of sight.
What time period does your play take place in?
I think my play takes place in the early 1900s because the characters talked about hat costs and apparently, 22 dollar hats were expensive then. Since I know that a long time ago, the economy was worse, I guessed it was around the early 1900s or late 1800s.
Does your set reflect that time period?
So far, my set does not reflect much. However, when I design the furniture, I will make sure to design them to reflect the timer period this story is from.
Is there any additional inspiration that you are drawing from?
There is no additional inspiration that I am drawing from. I am only drawing from the story and some background knowledge
What are you struggling with?
I am struggling with designing furniture in my sketch up because we are using lines, shapes and a few tools to basically make 3D objects.
What do you need to continue to work on?
I still need to work on designing my set for my play because I am far from being finished with my set design.
How are you going to move forward in the next class?
I am going to more forward next class by continuing to design the set for my story so that I can hopefully finish my stage design.
